Hey y'all, just an update on my trip to Laos for visa exempt. It was not necessary to go with dollars because they accept thai baht at Wattay Airport in Vientiane (this detail is not specified in the website). Vientiane is a great city, I really liked it. A nice mix of east and west. In case anyone is interested, they have cool vegan restaurants there. I stayed in a very comfortable and affordable airbnb called Villa de Mekong. I bought the onward ticket but they didn't even ask for it at Don Mueang Airport. Anyway, better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Thanks for all of your advice and suggestions! I'm going to get an extension on my visa exempt and stay until the end of April.

Stay cool everybody, it's hot out there.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user shares their experience of traveling to Laos for a visa exempt trip, highlighting that Thai Baht is accepted at Wattay Airport, which is not mentioned on official websites. They provide insights into the cultural atmosphere of Vientiane, recommend a vegan restaurant, and mention their comfortable stay at an Airbnb. They discuss the onward ticket situation, stating it was not requested when re-entering Thailand at Don Mueang Airport and express a plan to extend their visa. Comments from others add inquiries about currency and visa requirements.

well, you don't need an onward travel proof at DMK for a flight to Laos. however you will most probably need the onward travel proof at the check-in for the airline when flying one-way from Vientiane back to Thailand. Immigration is not interested in your onward travels, as long as you don't have multiple visa-exempt entries stamped in your passport

Hi, I was talking about when I re-entered Thailand from Vientiane to get a visa exempt. Thai immigration did not ask to see my onward flight ticket out of the country. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thai Immigration won't ask. It's the airline who will ask. If you fly from Vientiane to Thailand without a visa, they normally want to see an onward travel proof within the 30 days after entry. If you had a tourist visa, the airline will not ask

E visa is good as it saves wasting a whole page in your passport

How much was it in baht?

1800, but by that time I had already, and unnecessarily, changed some thai baht into dollars.

The value is $50. A bit much if you could have done with $35.
