TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement for a retirement visa extension in Thailand does not include a stipulation to demonstrate spending of 50,000 THB per month. Instead, to qualify for an extension, you must show financial proof through one of three methods: having at least 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account, demonstrating a monthly income of at least 65,000 THB through an affidavit from your embassy, or providing a minimum of 65,000 THB deposited monthly into your bank over the past 12 months. It’s important to ensure that you have the necessary financial documents ready for immigration.

She has been here on since 2009. The stamp looks like an extension of stay. If she is on an extension of stay this year and using the income method doesn't she need to show monthly income of 65,000 baht/month for the entire year? If using the banked money method wouldn't she have to show the proper balance for the entire year?

There would not be the requirement "how much you spend monthly / yearly" for any visa. Only "how much you have or earn"...

You have to show that you have finances, there are 3 ways to show this,

Option 1: 2 months prior application a minimum of 800.000 Thb on your Thai Bank account

Option 2, a income affidavit from your Embassy that you have a monthly income of 65.000 Thb

Option 3: If your Embassy does not hand out this affidavit, at least 12 months a monthly deposit into your Thai bank of minimum 65.000 Thb

Bank book and letters from the bank needed

To get an extension of stay based on "retirement", you do need to have 800K THB in a bank account in Thailand, Do you have that?

you need to bring in monthly deposits of 65,000 baht or more and it needs to show as an international transfer or have the 800,000 baht in the bank in your name for 2 months before and 3 months after it doesn't matter how much you spend

From my response above:

No, there is no "spending" requirement for a "retirement visa".

No, there is no "spending" requirement for a "retirement visa".

But... it sounds like you're concerned about staying in Thailand.

1. There is no such thing as a "retirement visa". There are (basically) two types of legal documents people call "retirement visas".

a. A one year extension of stay based on retirement (usually gotten from a non-O visa).

b. A multiple entry Non-OA visa.

Which one do you have?
