Single person visa exempt, only staying 4 days, do i still need to show 10,000 bht in any hard currency, upon entry if asked.
Many thanks
Answer summary
If you are entering Thailand with a visa exemption, you may be asked to show proof of funds. The requirement is typically 20,000 Baht or the equivalent in a foreign currency, such as USD or GBP. Since you mentioned staying only 4 days, it is advisable to have at least 600 USD in cash or the equivalent amount in Thai Baht to satisfy this requirement if asked upon entry.

If you are not staying long then I suggest you simply hold 600 u.s. dollars cash. This is acceptable and means you don't have excess baht
The actual rule for proof of funds if you're flying in visa exempt (showing up with no visa) is IF you're asked you must show 20k baht or the equivalent in CASH
Have you been in Thailand during the past 12 months? If so, how many times and how long each time? Holding the UK passport, you should be okay on arrival if you have proof of your departing Thailand in 4 days a you stated. Your airline is the one to ask about being given the boarding pass.
Ady Hughes I was in Laos once and couldn't find any bank, or money exchange that would give me foreign currency in exchange for kip, same happened in Vietnam recently. People not travelling with cash is very common today
