Do I need to show 20,000 baht in cash for a visa run to Laos from Thailand?

you cannot do a "land run" on a 60-day Single Entry Tourist Visa. Either you extend it for 30 more days at any Immigration office inside Thailand, giving you 90 days out of this visa, or leave Thailand just before the SETV expires and come back on a 30-day Visa Exempt Entry or get a new SETV on the embassy of TH in Vientiane. Normally when entering Thailand it is safe to have the three things: Proof of accomodation for the first few days, a ticket out of Thailand within the duration of the allowed stay and 20,000 Thai Baht or other currency in cash

If possible, it's probably safer just to always keep 20k baht on you these days imo

You go to the Thai Consulate in Laos to apply for a new Visa or just doing a border bounce for a Visa Exempt Entry?
