Can I open a bank account in Thailand using a Yellow 'Tabien baan' book without a residence certificate?
Morning, does anyone have experience with opening a bank account using a Yellow "Tabien baan" book as proof of my Thai address rather than going to immigration to get a residence certificate. Thanks

It depends on the bank and individual branches but I opened three bank accounts using only my passport and thai driver’s license

Actually just depends what the actual bank branch that you are trying to open an account with wants.

As long as you have the pink ID card to match the yellow book, it shouldn't be a problem in my experience.

Mark Day hey, mark, I've been thinking about getting that pink. ID Card, but my wife seems to think you have to go to the Thai counsulate or something to get it, and I don't understand what I read. It didn't say that. Can you give me a rundown? Thank you

If you and your wife have your own house just go with her to the local Amphur office (Provincial Administration Office) and they will tell you what documents they require to issue the yellow book. You get the pink ID card at the same time. I applied and returned the following day to collect both.

, you need to go to your local amphur office ( town hall ), ask them for the list of documents needed every amphur office has different rules and regulations. My application took 6 months from start to finish, some guys took a few hours in and out.

Pink id card is simple
It’s a Thai ID card that gives you a Thai ID number that you can use almost anywhere…
from hotel check ins,
bank acct info,
DL (if you use your passport and you get a new passport number in the future you have to update your DL)
Thai prices at Thai hospitals, easier registrar well
You apply for it at your local amphur office, you will need your passport, valid visas, degree (I think), police report, blue house book holder saying you live in at the address, and in some cases a ln interview with the head of the amphur office
After you’re approved it costs something like ฿80 for the card
It took me about 2 weeks total to get it with running around getting translations etc
It was way easier getting the pink ID card than a DL
at the DMV in Colorado

I Believe that’s what I had to do to get it
Police report to show you’re a law abiding citizen
Valid visa…sorry but they only issue these to people that can receive them via a valid visa…not sure what types are valid right now…but I’ll date to say a 60 day SETV and a 6 month metv do not cut it…but I could be wrong
Degree they want to see that you graduated from a school basically…it’s not an outrageous outreach
Blue book you could be right seeing that it was my first pink card and yellow book I had to get an affidavit from the blue house master saying I was residing within the domicile
Once again this was approximately 6 years ago so maybe things have become more streamlined or maybe harder I have no idea

Potpong_Life If he has a Yellow book already then the householder's blue book becomes irrelevant.. and I'm wondering what sort of police report could possibly be required.. assuming they didn't need to produce a police report to get their visa how is that relevant.. lastly you mention a 'degree' of some sort.. again, if you have a valid 'qualifying' visa stamp in your passport what 'degree' is needed for a pink card application.. are you suggesting it's only issued to graduates.. or maybe predictive text is screwing with you.. maybe you could elaborate on these points so the OA isn't misled.. thanks.
