Hi. Does anyone know if you have to renew the Certificate of Residence each time you apply for a Covid extension (or any visa extension)? We have one dated 29th January. Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
In general, you do not need to renew the Certificate of Residence each time you apply for a visa extension, including Covid-related extensions. The main document required is usually the TM30 receipt, which is the notification of foreigner residence, unless you have moved to a new address.

you don't show a "certificate of residence" to get ANY extension at an immigration office

You might show the TM30 receipt (notification of foreigner in residence) that you or your land lord filed BUT that's it and you only need to get a new one if you moved to a new address
