I retired in Thailand (Phuket) in 2015 for a year and then left to work overseas for four years. I’m currently on my husbands visa as a dependent (non Imm O) in Bangkok. I never touched the 800k over the last five years and it’s still in an SCB account.

I’m looking to apply for a long stay visa again based on being over 50. Do I need to prove this money came from overseas in 2015 or will they look at the old ‘retirement’ file AND all the bank books, and figure it out? Will retire in Phuket again. TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a dependent visa in Thailand and wishes to switch to a retirement visa. They inquired whether they need to demonstrate that their funds, which have been in a Thai bank for years, originated from overseas. A commenter informed them that since they are already on a yearly extension, they just need to change the reason for their extension and do not need to prove the source of the funds, provided the money has been in their Thai bank account for at least two months before their application.

You are already on a yearly extension SO all you'd have to do is when you go to apply for your next yearly extension is change the reason from being a "trailing spouse" (piggybacking on someone elses extension) to one based on being over 50 (retirement).

There is no proof required to show where the funds came from when applying for a yearly extension so you're fine as long as the money is in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the year extension.
