TLDR : Answer Summary
Most responses indicate that there is typically no requirement to prove where you are staying in Thailand when applying for a visa from overseas, unless specifically requested by the consulate.

What's the problem with posting anonymous? There's a lot of well meaning people posting sensitive personal & financial information as well information on their immigration status. In fact I don't think it's very smart to do otherwise on a public site. If there wasn't the option to post anonymously then I reckon this group wouldn't have the wealth of information it currently has.

it’s fine for any topic, perhaps just unnecessary for some, but when identifying yourself has no purpose and offers no advantage it’s quite natural to pick either option.

sad that it bothers you so much. Must be tough being so perfect. Try and be a bit kinder mate. You’ll feel better for it
