I entered Thailand on a 45 exempt visa on 6 December. I come from UK and had applied for a 90 day O retirement visa but it didn't arrive in time for me to use to enter Thailand. I now have that visa and I can activate it anytime up until the beginning of March. Do I need to leave Thailand and reenter to be able to activate this 90 day visa? Because I hate coach travel if I need to leave and reenter I was planning to fly to Vientiane, stay overnight and fly back to BKK. Is this long enough away? Separate question. I am renting a condo in Pattaya but no TM 30 has been filed. If I wanted to extend my 45-day exempt visa in the Pattaya immigration office would I be asked for a TM30? Many thanks for your advice
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the process to activate a 90-day O retirement visa after entering Thailand on a 45-day exempt visa. They are considering a short trip to Vientiane to activate the visa. They also ask about the necessity of a TM30 filing to extend their 45-day visa at the Pattaya immigration office. Comments confirm that leaving and reentering Thailand is sufficient for visa activation, with no minimum duration required for the exit. Additionally, a TM30 must be on file in order to apply for visa extensions.
