TLDR : Answer Summary
As an Indian national changing schools while holding a work permit in Thailand, you are not required to leave the country to obtain a new work permit. Instead, you will need to cancel your current permit at the Ministry of Labor and have your new employer apply for a new one. However, ensure that the conditions of your stay in Thailand permit this process.

No, you hand in your current work permit at the Ministry of Labor where you got it and get it cancelled and you new employer applies for a new work permit.

You might have to leave the country due to your admitted or permitted to stay which is stamped in your passport.

NO, visa and work permit are different things in different booklets and you got them from two different offices. What is inside your passport, a visa or a stamp from Immigration?

but your stay inside Thailand has nothing to do with your Work Permit, but with the stamps or stickers in your passport
