TLDR : Answer Summary
When you receive a new passport with a different passport number, it is necessary to inform the employment office regarding your work permit. It is advisable to notify various agencies you are associated with to avoid complications. Additionally, you should update your bank records and any other important documents, such as vehicle registration. This proactive approach helps ensure that all your records are consistent and up-to-date.
Firstly you must go to your immigration office, they will update your new passport with the last stamp of your visa situation.
Then as said before, make a copy for you employer, update with your bank, green book if you have and any other thai paperwork (lease agreement...)

Its better to do so to be safe, but new passports will have a stamp stating that so and so previously travelled on xxxxx (your old passport number), so it is very easy verify.

Good idea to update the greenbook of your motorbike also if you have one. Otherwise impossible to change ownership

I went to the bank one after using the account for 4 yrs after charging my password number
I had shown my new passport 50 times or so during that period. Suddenly out of the blue it was 3 alarm fire. Took an hour to get it fixed. Wow
And also make sure that the bank branch where you opened your account updates it. I had a lot of headache because my passports expired since i opened it in isaan years ago. Not living there anymore. Luckily a lovely employee of a local branch could tell them to do it that i didn’t have to visit this town 😂
