TLDR : Answer Summary
You are required to do 90-day reporting on an education visa in Thailand, and there are no fees associated with this reporting. Failing to do so could result in a fine, but there is no charge for the reporting itself.

How long is your education visa for?
There is no charge for 90 day reporting. There’s a fine of you don’t do it but it depends on the visa you’re on as to whether you’d need to.
any extension is 1,900 baht for whatever length of time. If you’re having to extend your visa then there is no need to do 90 day reporting. You’re not on a visa (entry/extension) that lasts more than 90 days
oh so this would only be if my visa is for 90 days at a time. I was considering signing up for 2 years so in that case would just need 90 day reporting right
you’re not going to be getting a 2 year education visa. Speak to the school that’s supplying the course/visa. My guess is it’ll be 3 months at a time but they may be able to get you a year long one, in which case you would do 90 day reports.
You're confusing extension of stay with 90-day reporting. Two separate items. On a ED visa you will possibly have to get a new extension every 90 days for which the cost is 1900 baht (check with your school, some are able to do 12-month extensions). If you extend every 90 days you probably will not be required to do a 90-day report, as your visit to immigration will be in lieu of this
but I mean education visa. I have a visa now where I just do 90 day reporting so I know about that. I was looking to change visa and just reading this and was confused
