I just got back from my 90 day check in at Jomtien Immigration! I have a one year multiple entry OA from Canada! It took 5 minutes tops and I was out- I asked about the mandatory health form for when I come back next August - my visa runs out July 21/2020.- the officer told me to come back before it runs out and they would renew it for another year- I asked again about the mandatory insurance which I get anyway and he gave me these forms- if I renew back in Canada I can leave my 800000 in my Canadian Account- I hope this helps some of you!

Okay we're going around and around on this and at this time there just isn't enough hard verifiable feed back from people who are getting yearly extensions on O-A visas (other than the people who have been denied extensions because they didn't have thai insurance)

Sorry but we're done..

Should an Expat from the USA who has a Non-immigrant O-A Visa issued from a Thai Consultant office in the US attempt to convert his Visa to an O Visa to circumvent the Thai Health Care Insurance requirement?

- Or can have your foreign health care insurance sign the Thai Health Dept Health Insurance certificate.

- Blue Cross & Blue Shield family plan. I pay $274 a month in retirement as a former 35 year USG employee.

Marty Pollard - respectfully, did you cancel your US policy?

Did you get the minimum health care to basically meet the new Thai Visa requirements? And what's the annual cost of the Thai Health care insurance ?

Marty Pollard - I will never stop my US healthcare policy as it also is recognisable internationally, I've used it here in Thailand with no issues. I've communicated with them if they will sign the Thai certificate for health insurance. If yes good, if not my other option is to pay the Thai extortion health insurance - cheepest!

Respectfully, how much are you paying for Thai insurance?

I am a US expat. My US insurance covered me as a traveler but didn’t cover me to live here long term. I bought a Thai insurance policy in January of this year. It really depends what insurance you think you need. You have two choices (now). Stay here based on an OA with Thai insurance or switch over to a non-O if you want something other than a Thai insurance or no insurance.

Why? Thai hospitals still charge Americans who need treatment, it is also for them not free of charge

Basically you have a choice. If you very much want to keep your money in a Canadian bank then you need to purchase an OA in Canada and purchase insurance. If you don’t want to purchase Thai insurance then return to get a non-immigrant O and then get a year extension of stay but you will have to put money in a Thai bank.

Thanks for making these copies, they are posted a few times already, but it still seems to give big confusion by reading it. You can keep the money if you apply for a NEW Non Immigrant O-A visa at the Thai Embassy in Canada OR you need the 800.000 Thb in a Thai bank account on your name if you apply for a 1 year Extension of Stay at your local Immigration Office.
