Our Ed visa ends in November (we didnโ€™t know you can no longer get language visa for two years. Only one now)๐Ÿ˜ž so we will go on the Covid extension. Do we need to cancel our language Ed visa first and what do we need to switch over? Thank you. ๐Ÿ™‚

TLDR : Answer Summary
To switch from your current language Ed visa to a COVID extension, you need to first cancel your existing Ed visa. After cancellation, you can apply for a 60-day COVID extension of stay since the last day to apply is November 26th. It's advisable to prepare an explanation for why you are still in Thailand during this process.

As you are working, why not get a non-B and work permit?

The last day to apply for the COVID extension is November 26th...

And be prepared to answer the question why you are still in Thailand?

If granted the extension you will have 60 days to either get a correct visa to stay or leave as this may be the final COVID extension.

Be prepared..

Good Luck.

Is the visa covid extension different from the regular visa extension?

it's issued for a different reason ๐Ÿ™‚ but an extension is an extension, you meet the requirements you get it, you don't, you don't and all extensions cost the same no matter the type or how long they're issued for 1900baht

Yes you do. You need to cancel your existing ED visa, and then get a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19

@Benjamin *****
thank you. Do we cancel with our school or at immigration? Can it be done at the same time ?

You'll do it at the immigration office. You'll get a letter from your school cancelling your extension of stay, which you'll use to cancel your extension of stay. Once you cancel your existing extension of stay, you can apply for the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19
