Hi all ๐Ÿ˜Š,

I arrived via the sandbox 45 days visa exemption. I am heading to Phuket Town to apply for the 60 day COVID extension. Once on the COVID extension can I then apply for the ED visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the possibility of applying for an Education (ED) visa in Thailand after securing a 60-day COVID-19 extension after entering Thailand on a visa exemption. A commenter notes that typically, one must first obtain a 30-day tourism extension before getting the COVID extension and that the process for transitioning to an ED visa will involve coordination with the school and immigration office.

Generally, at most immigration offices, you are required to get a 30 day extension of stay based on tourism BEFORE being allowed to get a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19.

>Once on the COVID extension can I then apply for the ED visa?

That will be between you, the school, and the immigration office.

I want to be mindful of the uni intake date for the course. Is it worth letting them know I want to study and see how best to plan the visa pathway?

are you already signed up and accepted for the course? If so I'd speak to the university. If not it's unlikely immigration would care about it
