Hi everyone

Apologies if this has already been asked, but if you apply from another country (such as Vietnam or Cambodia) once in country can you do online or need to present yourself at an Embassy in person for DTV.  Also do you leave your passport with them while processing and is there a physical visa put in or do they notify you by digital confirmation?

(I am a kiwi and not willing to pay the extortionate NZD2000 fee from my home country so plan to have a holiday in EU first then do DTV for remote work.)

previously every applicant had an interview before, but I think it's not as prevalent now.

Just FYI if you apply in Laos you still have to go to the embassy to pay in person. Vietnam and Cambodia that isn't the case.

It is all online, but you need to be physically in the country through which embassy you apply via. Also, some embassies, especially the ones in Europe, require you to either be a national or a resident of that country. Not the case in the other southeast Asian countries

You apply online and only go to the embassy if asked for an interview. You are sent the visa via PDF
