Hey Hey! I like to apply for the A-O visa for my mom. But we are a little bit confused regarding the insurance policy. She is planning to be in thailand for around 180+- days. So, do we need to have an insurance which covers 12 month? or only the planned period or maybe the first month only?

Thanks =))

PS: Do you know an h-insurance where you can pay on a monthly basis? (69y+)

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for an A-O visa in Thailand, it is typically required that the health insurance covers one year, even if the planned stay is around 180 days. The insurance must be valid for the entire duration of the visa, which may be stamped for a year upon arrival. There may not be options for monthly insurance payments, but you can get a refund for any unused months if the stay is shorter than a year. Check with the specific consulate for their insurance rules.

@Bra****
, the Non imm. OA visa is always issued by the Thai embassy/consulate in y'r home country. So I thought you can use your regular (many times mandatory) local healthcare insurance ?

if they accept it then yes. But obviously it needs to cover you in Thailand and needs to be in force for however long they want to see

The validity of the visa is one year, hence the insurance required is one year. If the stay is cut short, you can get a refund on the unused full months. There's no monthly options. If you're looking for a cheap insurance which simply ticks the boxes get the 7700 baht policy from Arawan

Arawan has informed me the LMG 7700 baht policy is not valid once the 3 million baht cover requirement starts in a few weeks the cheapest LMG option around 26,500 baht depending on age ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Most consulates will not sell the OA visa without having insurance for an entire year. Then when you arrive in Thailand you will be stamped in for 1 year, or as long as the insurance is good for.

You would need to check with the consulate you will be applying through for their exact rules.
