TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses whether an Affidavit of Guarantee is needed when traveling to Thailand if the traveler has sufficient funds in their account, but their expenses will be covered by a sponsor. Comments suggest that for a vacation in Thailand, especially with a return ticket, an Affidavit may not be necessary as tourists can typically receive a 60-day visa on arrival.

You don’t need any guarantee for a holiday in Thailand, you get 60 days “visa” on arrival and so does your Filipino gf

Won't the immigration officer know that my return ticket is after 60 days?

As far as I know, Filipinos are only allowed a 30-day free visa in Thailand. My plan is to extend my stay at Thai immigration before my 30 days expire.

What is the best way you can suggest, sir?

as a Filipino citizen she gets 60 days visa exempt on arrival, she can then extend 30 days more. The same goes for you if your nationality is allowed visa exempt on arrival. 93 countries has this so I assume you’re of one of those nationalities?

Immigration usually don’t care about your return ticket, airlines do.

I always have a bus ticket from Thailand to Cambodia 250b booked with a date previous to my 60 days expire just in case someone asks.

but having money in your bank account might not be acceptable to whoever asks to see funds, usually they need to see cash.

It can be any currency basically as long as it exceeds 20k baht per person or 40k baht for a family.

even to foreigners?

I’m not sure, I heard from others that it needs to be cash.

I always carry cash. It’s not much, €500 each and you’re good. I’ve never ever been asked to show funds or accommodation or return ticket, but I always have it just in case.

It’s always better to have something you won’t need than to need something you don’t have…

Probably your immigration officer is the one who will give the headache as per usual.

Thailand doesn't care as long as you have a return ticket.

Where can i get an Affidavit of Guarantee/Sponsorship here in Philippines?

If you’re going for a "trip" to Thailand and are among the 93 countries entitled to a 60 days visa exemption upon arrival on the same conditions as your Philippine partner, you’ll only need to prove cash equal to 20K baht pr person if it’s asked for, some proof of accommodation and an onward ticket within 60 days. Rarely checked at the immigration but you might risk your airline will ask for the onward ticket during check in. No guarantee is required.

Yes, and then entitled to a 60 days visa exemption upon arrival in Thailand. The only requirement are 1) Onward ticket within 60 days 2) Proof of accommodation 3) Cash equal to 20K baht

it's passport that matters. German enters with no visa for 60 days.

@Unconventional ******
People with passports from Philippines or/and Germany are entitled to a 60 days visa exemption and free stamp upon entry which also could be extended with additional 30 days at your local immigration. Previously, until 15 July last year, the visa exemption was 30 days.
