Do I need a rental contract or is a hotel booking sufficient for the Destination Thailand Visa application from Switzerland?

Hey everyone 🙂

I’m currently preparing to apply for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) from Switzerland, and I’m a bit unsure about one thing:

Do I already need to show a rental contract in Thailand, or is a hotel/accommodation booking (for the first few weeks) enough for the application?

Has anyone here applied from Switzerland and can share what documents were accepted?

Thanks a lot in advance 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) from Switzerland, it appears that showing a rental contract is not mandatory. Some applicants have successfully obtained their visas without submitting any accommodation details, while others recommended providing hotel bookings as an option for additional support. It's advisable to check specific requirements with the Swiss embassy to confirm individual circumstances.

I just entered the name of a random hotel in Bangkok with a 4 day stay. But at no point I was asked about Booking confirmation neither hotel nor for flight. At Bern embassy.

I didn’t need to show anything, however, if you want to show a hotel booking for support. Do a reservation that you can cancel if your plans change maybe.

I applied though Hanoi embassy and I didn't submit any accommodation details in Thailand. Got approved without any issues. However, since every embassy has different rules, it's best to find someone who applied in Switzerland
