For getting a DTV Soft power in London, are they wanting you to stay in the country?

I'll be applying 3 months in advance but still want do short breaks in the EU.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a DTV Soft power visa in London, applicants must remain in the UK until their visa application is processed and approved. Many commenters stress that traveling outside the UK while the application is pending can lead to complications and possible delays. Some note that once the visa is granted, traveling before proceeding to Thailand is permissible.

You need to plan your timings, when to apply, avoid Thai Public holidays otherwise there could be delays, definitely don’t leave the country you applied in, not even for 1 day. GL

I had my soft power DTV approved by London yesterday and submitted the declaration to stay in the UK when they requested this as further documents.

My visa was granted 2 days after I submitted this.

As Greg says, once you've got the visa you're free to travel before you head to Thailand.

The UK often asks for a declaration you will stay in UK while application processing. You can travel once it is granted though and before you leave for Thailand.
