Do the embassies verify the authenticity of any of the documents needed, like bank statements? What's to stop someone looking for a workcation DTV from just photoshopping a balance or a work portfolio or something else?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The authenticity of documents submitted for visa applications, such as bank statements, can be verified by embassies. While the depth of verification varies, it is generally inadvisable to submit doctored documents due to the serious legal repercussions involved. Multiple comments indicate that detection can occur through methods such as direct verification or current balance checks. Violating these rules can lead to serious consequences, including visa rejection or bans from entry into Thailand.

If you get caught, they can void your visa. (seen a guy using a edited tm30 to apply for visa extension recently. the imm lady just told him to wait while she check the system. Told him to go get a real copy and shoo him off. Surprise they did not get the police to nab him.)

Unlikely due to data protection and bank secrecy laws but whT stops you. What stops you is the same principle why you don’t go rob a bank. Chances of consequences are still there.

When you come to Thailand your here as a guest and you should do everything and anything to respect the chance to be here. Doctoring documents will land you in trouble if found out and I would assume a total ban on entry. It’s not worth it it’s a great Place to be

They sometimes ask you to connect with your phone/computer to show the current balance.

Can't answer by the others, but I can answer for my case. What stops me? It's not that they find it out and the visa gets rejected, but that doctoring bank statements or work experience letters is a very serious crime at least here where I live haha 😂. That alone stops me.

Same logic goes for what stops me from secretly stealing money from (you insert place) if nobody will find it out. The same reason, because it's a crime.

To be clear, I'm not saying just that "lying is bad", rather that doing this is a criminal offense here.

And I don't really know well about That visas specifically, but in most countries any granted visa can be revoked/cancelled ANYTIME after if the issuing embassy or Immigration office finds out any or all of the documents used for its application were fake or doctored.

Not smart to make a false application via photoshopped docs. The depth of authentication will vary among embassies.
