Can you get a re entry permit from any IO or do they ask for a TM30 for their district ?
ie can you just walk into any office and get one ?
Answer summary
To obtain a re-entry permit in Thailand, you typically need to go to the immigration office that issued your extension unless you are at the airport. If your stay was based on a visa rather than an immigration office's permission, you can go to any immigration office provided you have a TM30 filed for that location. Without a TM30 for the office you visit, they will generally not assist you.

That depends on what you are trying to get a re-entry permit for.
Generally if you have an extension from a specific immigration office, you're only going to be able to get a re-entry permit from that office, or at the airport.
But if you have something like a permission of stay that is based on entering with a visa, so it was not given by an immigration office, you can use any office as long as you have a TM30 for that office.
Phil Beer ok but my question is can I just walk into any IO and ask for one or do I have to have a TM30 .If I went out for a drive tomorrow and passed one could I walk in and get a re entry permit
