Can I obtain a re-entry permit for my Ed visa at Don Mueang airport or at the Malaysian border?

Hey guys! This is a question about the re-entry permit (ed visa) . First of all, I'm flying to Krabi from Bangkok and making my way south by land eventually to Malaysia.

My first question is: I heard that I can't do re-entry permits on domestic flights (Don Mueang). Is this true?

#2: If so, can I do it at the Malaysian border at Padang Besar if I took the train?

Thanks!

You better have all the papers and copies in hand when you cross at Hat Yai. I was there, the Thai immigration lady said 'you can get re-entry permit, you need to make a photo copy, etc.' I asked How can I make a photocopy here?, she said to take a motorcycle taxi. I spoke to a moto guy, 'Hey I need a copy.' - He said 'Copy?' with tea sipping hand movement. My heart was too broken and dumped the idea.
