Does Hanoi ever give multi-entry tourist visa instead of DTV if booking a 6 month soft power course (since it's seen that DTV isn't needed)? I read a couple of reports of this but not for Hanoi

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the possibility of acquiring a multi-entry tourist visa (METV) instead of a Non-Immigrant D Visa (DTV) when enrolling in a 6-month soft power course in Hanoi. Some comments indicate that while there’s no guarantee, it has occurred for others. It’s suggested to consider applying for a longer duration, like 9 months, to increase chances of receiving the METV. Additionally, it’s noted that for some cases, even those enrolled in 1-year courses were able to secure a METV.

So you see by yourself you don't need DTV, better apply for METV by yourself, that is cheaper than apply for DTV and get METV.

I wouldn’t count on it, but it does happen from time to time if they believe you do not meet the requirements. You have no guarantee that the entire application won’t simply be rejected.
