TLDR : Answer Summary
To change from an OA Visa to an O Visa, you cannot directly convert it. You must first cancel your OA Visa, which typically requires leaving Thailand and re-entering on the O Visa. While applying for the O Visa, you must show evidence of 800,000 THB in your Thai bank account from outside the country, but the funds are not required to specifically be from Switzerland.

You can't change from an OA visa to an O visa. You need to first get rid of the OA visa by leaving Thailand and re-entering after its expired without a re-entry permit. Your best option is to get the non-o visa from a consulate while outside Thailand and entering with that then you just need the extension at your local immigration office, they don't care where the 800k comes from for that

when I converted my visa exempt to a 3 month Non O at Chaeng Wattana, the immigration agent didn't ask for the origin of the THB 800,000. Just a bank statement showing the funds.

"the agent"? So not immigration?

do you mean an immigration officer operating inside the immigration office?

@Ken ******
thanks. Did your funds actually come from overseas? If so they could likely tell from your bank statement and book as they would have the appropriate code for overseas transfers

all from overseas but it has been there for many years. I had to restart the Non O process because I got locked out during COVID

ah OK. I guess they cut you some slack then

Lucky you! The requirement for a "change of visa type" from a 30-days visa exempt to a 90-days Non-Imm-O visa, clearly states that if you do the financial proof with a bank deposit, you need proof that the 800,000.- THB came from abroad . . .some Immigrations are pretty lenient with this

Not necessarily that it came from Switzerland, but to apply for the non-O visa after getting your non-OA cancelled, you must show 800,000 baht in your Thai bank account that came from outside the country.
