Can you bring a pet cat on internal flights in Thailand from Phuket to Bangkok
Summary so far
The conversation focuses on experiences related to Thai immigration policies, specifically regarding rental contracts and documentation such as duty stamps and maps. There are various comments discussing the challenges faced by expats when dealing with immigration offices, highlighting the need for updated documents and the communication dynamics between expats and Thai officers. However, the discussion does not directly address the original question about bringing a pet cat on internal flights in Thailand.

Bangkok. I printed-out a Google Maps trip with directions from Immigration to my home, it was accepted. There was one question, I don't recall - maybe name of the condo building? I was using the address, not the place.

In my view it's a bit of a mistake to allow your wife to have the conversation and you just sit there with no idea of what's going on. Insist the immigration officer speaks to you, Thais don't like to question things, they tend to accept everything they get told by people in authority. My immigration office had a problem with my hand drawn maps after a staff change which were previously accepted so I had a bit of a winge and one of the helpers ended up redoing it for me, the level of detail was impressive. Traffic lights, junctions, landmarks etc over a 30 km route between my house and the immigration office whereas previously I'd just provided scrappy maps of the village with the roads in and out and my house marked. Now I just photocopy the map the assistant provided every year

Hi John, did you take a photo of the nice job the helper did? I would love to see it. I will ask my AI if it can do this as well. :)

Can confirm Thais don't like to question things, even if they don't actually understand the details of what is being said.

My husband just nods and "khrap"s his way through conversations with the officers, and the second we walk out the door he asks me questions about it.

... So I end up going straight inside again and ask again so I can ask the necessary follow-up questions. :P

I now go inside the building alone, unless my husband needs to sign something, because the IOs absolutely insist on talking to him, and not me.

Marianne Holmen tell me about it, i went through the same situation, they focus on my wife and she just nods ☺️

Apparently tax stamps are supposed to be put onto the rental contract every few months so they know taxes are being paid on the unit.

... So effectively you will be paying that tax for your landlord unless you make them do it for you.

I would go to the Immigration office again though, and ask specifics.

Since your wife didn't seem to do that.

Having my husband with me when I do these things is a absolute CHORE.

Because he'll get answers, but not really know what the answers really mean, and then not ask for specifics.

So I go alone unless he has to come with me and sign documents. :P

Marianne Holmen thank you Marianne

That was helpful, i will question the landlord first

Really thankful for your reply

I've been doing marriage extensions in Hua Hin for 4 years now. I've always supplied a hand drawn map with no issues, although not from the Immigration Office to our home, just of where our house is in relation to Phetkasem Road.

Agree with @Ian Morrison, there's no requirement for duty stamps.

Liam O'Brien They might have changed.

In Phetchaburi, you'll need to have updated tax-stamps associated with your rental contract for the Immigration Office to accept it.

At Chaeng Wattana (Bangkok), I cropped the map from Google Maps, pasted in on excel, print it out. and circle where our place is.

You need to ask THEM what's wrong with your map.

My office will only accept hand drawn map by my wife, and your wife should be asking immigration the questions. What are you on about duty stamps? The amount of rent you pay is irrelevant. You need a rental agreement and an up to date TM30 lodged by the landlord. The immigration office should give you a list of requirement.

Ian Morrison In Cha-Am ( Phetchaburi ) your rental contract needs to have updated tax-stamps on it for the Immigration Office to accept it.

Super easy to get, but while it should not be my responsibility, it ends up being that since I can't be arsed to contact the landlord about stuff like this when it costs me next to nothing to get it sorted myself.
