Is there anyone applied Fukuoka but living in Kanto(near Tokyo) area? Did it go well?
Hi everyone,
I’m a Japanese citizen planning to apply for a Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) this October.
My situation is a little unusual:
* I currently live in the Tokyo area.
* I’ll be moving to Thailand to accompany my spouse, who will be stationed there by his employer.
* I’ll continue working remotely as an independent contractor for my current Japanese consulting company.
* I’ve heard that some applicants living in the Tokyo area successfully applied through the Fukuoka Royal Thai Consulate, so I’m trying to understand how that worked in practice.
If you have actually applied through Fukuoka while living outside the Fukuoka jurisdiction (especially from the Tokyo area), I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience.
Specifically, I’d like to know:
* Was your application accepted without any issues?
* Were you asked why you chose to apply in Fukuoka instead of Tokyo?
* Did they ask for proof of residence within the Fukuoka consular jurisdiction?
* What additional documents or information did they request beyond the published checklist?
* Did you have an interview?
* If so, was it online or in person?
* What kinds of questions were you asked during the interview?
* How long did the whole process take from submission to approval?
Any recent experiences (especially in 2026) would be extremely helpful.
Thank you very much!
