DTV Workcation question – corporate funds + sponsoring girlfriend

I’m a Canadian citizen applying for the DTV through Vancouver. I own 50% of a Canadian corporation and work remotely.

For my application, I submitted:

* 3 months of corporate bank statements well above 500,000 THB

* corporate sponsorship letter

* proof I’m a shareholder/director

* incorporation documents

* professional portfolio

The consulate came back asking for 3 consecutive months of PERSONAL bank statements showing 500,000 THB+ at the end of each month.

Most of my funds are kept inside the corporation, not my personal account.

Has anyone successfully had a Thai consulate accept a company bank account + corporate sponsorship letter instead of personal statements?

Also, my girlfriend is a Mexican citizen living legally in Canada on a study permit. She does not personally have enough funds to meet the DTV financial requirement.

Is there any way for my corporation to financially sponsor her DTV as well, using the same business bank account and a corporate sponsorship letter, even though we are not married?

Also wondering:

* Can she apply from Canada while on a study permit, or does she need to apply from Mexico?

* Has anyone successfully used a company as financial sponsor for a girlfriend/partner’s DTV?

* Does the sponsor need to be a spouse/family member, or can it be a corporation?

Looking for recent experiences, especially with Vancouver or Mexico DTV applications.
Summary so far
A Canadian citizen seeks to apply for a Thai DTV visa using corporate funds and sponsorship for both himself and his girlfriend, who is a Mexican citizen studying in Canada. He has submitted required corporate documentation but was requested for personal bank statements instead. The community responses emphasize that funds must be in a personal account, not a business account, and that sponsorship is typically not allowed for non-family members. Additionally, the girlfriend would need to apply independently, likely from Mexico, as they are not married.

She cannot come as a dependant as you are not married and therefore you both need to apply separately. You will both need 500K in a personal bank account. As it sounds she has no income her only choice would be cooking class or boxing. As she is not a PR in Canada, under the recent rule changes, yes she would need to apply from Mexico. or you could marry her she could apply for PR and then she can apply from canada and come as your dependant 🙂

Very complicated as it sounds. A Mexican studying in Canada, why need a DTV for Thailand - that will spark the visa approval officials' attention as schools have limited holidays, right?. As for the half million baht requirement for the 3-month bank statement and affidavit of fund, it should be possible to loan it from the corporate account and put it in a personal account whereby it can be repaid to the corporate account once the visa is approved.

In addition to your questions and situation, I would suggest you create an employment contract between your company and yourself, also supply letter that you are allowed to work remotely in Thailand and that you won't have any dealings with Thai persons or businesses, and produce an employment certificate stating you are currently employed etc etc.

Wannikea Wanblee Would that work? Seems like everyone here is saying that I need to move my money to my personal accounts.

Kent Umeki I'm not providing you with a workaround. I'm suggesting your documents aren't complete and you should also supply what I mentioned to have a comprehensive application package. Please note I said " in addition."

When money is in a business account it is not your money, the money belongs to the business. So it needs to be in a personal account.

As to your girlfriend, you can't do anything to sponsor her, she would need to apply totally independently of you with her own funds. As it doesn't sound like she will work remotely she'll need to apply using one of the soft power options, and may also have to show how she can support herself during her time in Thailand. It also doesn't sound like she has permanent residence in Thailand so she would need to apply from Mexico.

Your money will need to be in a personal account for 3 months. Same when you do her application. You will probably lose that application. Reach out and ask them if you can fund account now and send in 3 months.

I’m Canadian also with 3rd country gf and we funded her account for 90 days. We were able to do this all in Hanoi in May, but no longer possible. You have to do in Canada.

You must verify with the consulate in YVR if they will accept your gf’s application. As she has a study permit, they ‘may’ allow her application. But you will need to fund her account for 3 months

Personal accounts.

It's pretty well established at this point that the funds must be in a personal account, not a business account, in order to qualify for the DTV.

And most embassies will only accept sponsorship letters from family, when they are the person with the primary DTV and someone is applying as dependent DTV (children, spouse).

, I guess the reason for not accepting company sponsorships is the fact that financial capacities are always net and not gross values. When money is on a company account, they will be gross and not some money the application can draw without paying personal tax from it. Even it might be possible to get the money out, the Embassy would need to try to find out how to get from a gross value to a net value in the particular country. When the sponsorship is between family, it is net money.

Henrik JN no, it is that company money technically can't be used for personal expenses if you need them, say for your personal hospital bills. Most company by-laws prevent this legally.

Kool Breez, yes, because you have to pay out the money to the employee and pay income tax. So 500k THB on a company account is as salary maybe only 250k THB. But if you have full control of the company, you can easily pay out the money to yourself to pay a hospital bill. If you want to try this route, you could try show 1 M THB on the company account. I have seen ppl successfully bending the "rules" using this approach. I know a guy showing 4 M THB on account for 10 years for a Non-OA visa, and suddenly he didnt need a health insurance for more than 6 months :-)

Exactly.

I believe you'll need to have the funds in each of your accounts for 3 months before it'll be considered.
