We have one way tickets to BKK on Aug 1st. I easily qualify for the new long term 10 year visa working from Thailand that starts Sept 2022. Can we use an visa on arrival to bridge the gap? Family of four with US passports.

The new visas have no details about them yet. They aren't even close to official at this point.

Also you'll need to show that you have travel out of Thailand if you arrive on a one way ticket with a short term entry.

 It depends on the airline, I personally have never been asked for an out of Thailand ticket

Gonna have a cheap bus ticket out reality is we will be traveling to other countries at least 4 times a year

 To use a bus ticket it must be an international route. You can’t have a ticket to a border town where you’d be able to walk across a border. Not all airlines will accept such ticket (although they should).

 I found Hat Yai to Penang the cheapest. Although I am not sure that border crossing is open. 12go.asia is your friend.
