What are the rules for multiple visa-exempt entries into Thailand within 6 months?

I've entered Thailand by air twice in the past 3 months and will enter again in December. But between now and december I need to leave for a few days for a wedding in Vietnam. I read somewhere one can only use the exemption 3x in 6 months by air. Is that correct? If so, I guess I should apply for a re-entry permit for my short trip this month?

I know this question has been asked before but as things tend to change I'm asking again. Thanks everyone.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the validity of using a visa exemption for entry into Thailand multiple times within a 6-month period, particularly after having entered twice in the last 3 months and planning another entry in December. They seek clarification on whether a re-entry permit is necessary for a short trip to Vietnam, given the potential limitation of three entries by air within six months. Comments suggest there is no official limit on visa-exempt entries, but caution is advised if authorities suspect continued stay without a visa.

there is no official limit to the number of visa exempt entries you can get by air.

Unless I'm mistaken you can't get a re-entry permit on a visa exempt entry, you can try though.

I'd say have proof that you're going to leave the country in 45 days (onward travel) just in case you're asked and you should be fine comin' back in.

Believe me though IF they think you're living here on back-2-back visa exempt entries w/extension (as in you max out the time and bounce out and right back to get a new stamp) they can and often will pull you aside and ask what you're trying to do
