When saving money for a DTV Visa, does it all have to be earned income? Or can you get a loan?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When saving money for a DTV Visa in Thailand, it is generally sufficient for funds to be available in your bank account without the need to show the source as earned income. You can reference loans as a potential source, though some users reported that having at least 500,000 THB in savings is essential, preferably maintained for 3-6 months. It's also advisable to keep your application clear and factual, providing required documentation accurately.

Take out a loan from your home country and flee to Thailand and forget about the back payments? πŸ˜„

I was asked to explain the source of income and employment proof. While my initial application had those details available, I just prepared another cover letter and attached the same documents again. Eventually got approved.

You don’t need to explain the source of monies just that you have the min 500,000 THB or equivalent currency in a savings account, preferably for 3-6 months but some have got away we deposit showing over recent weeks, depends on Embassy.

Just keep your application brief, accurate and factual, no waffle. Upload compressed documents in pdf files, I used IlovePDF.

Always upload every page of your passport , again compress into 1 file.

Workcation is the best option, they are starting to scrutinize soft options, so a 3 month or even a 6 month course, could mean you only get a 6 month METV, not a DTV

You can use a sponsor letter

It just needs to be available funds in your bank account. Source is irrelevant.
