When saving money for a DTV Visa, does it all have to be earned income? Or can you get a loan?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a DTV visa in Thailand, the funds need to be available in your bank account, and the source of the money is generally considered irrelevant. Although it's recommended to have at least 500,000 THB in savings for 3-6 months prior to the application, some applicants have successfully used funds deposited more recently. A loan can be considered as part of your financial proof, but showing a regular income may help strengthen your application. Additionally, providing a sponsor letter is an option if needed.

I got a loan a month before doing my application and I’m sure they saw in my bank statements that I had a loan. I also proved I had a regular income

Take out a loan from your home country and flee to Thailand and forget about the back payments? 😄

I was asked to explain the source of income and employment proof. While my initial application had those details available, I just prepared another cover letter and attached the same documents again. Eventually got approved.

You don’t need to explain the source of monies just that you have the min 500,000 THB or equivalent currency in a savings account, preferably for 3-6 months but some have got away we deposit showing over recent weeks, depends on Embassy.

Just keep your application brief, accurate and factual, no waffle. Upload compressed documents in pdf files, I used IlovePDF.

Always upload every page of your passport , again compress into 1 file.

Workcation is the best option, they are starting to scrutinize soft options, so a 3 month or even a 6 month course, could mean you only get a 6 month METV, not a DTV

I guess I can't find it directly. The post I was thinking of, the commenters decided they were were rejected b/c unclear employment contract, not because the income or source of funds were an issue.
