Has anyone successfully switched from a Smart Visa to a DTV? If so, do you need to cancel the Smart-S visa before applying for the DTV outside of Thailand?
Also, if I apply for the DTV visa, does it mean the Thai company required for the Smart-S visa must be closed as well? My main concern is whether I can cancel the Smart Visa and close the company only *after* securing the DTV approval.
Thank you so much for your help and advice! 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the process and requirements for switching from a Smart Visa to a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV). They want to know if they need to cancel their Smart Visa before applying for a DTV visa outside Thailand, and whether they can keep their Thai company running until after receiving DTV approval. A commenter noted that working for the Thai company under the Smart Visa would no longer be possible with the DTV and suggested the need to cancel the Smart Visa and close the company first.
Well you cannot work for the Thai company that the Smart S is based on with the DTV. I woukd imagine, ie am guessing, you would need to cancel the S and close the Thai legal entity. I was recently considering the Smart S myself but with the DTV we are re-evaluating. We are waiting to see how it works out first though
