Peace upon you. I would like to know that once my work visa expires, can I stay in Thailand for about a month more on tourist visa? How do I change my visa , which is Non Immigration B, to a 3 month tourist visa? Any insights are appreciated. Thanks alot in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Once your Non-Immigration B (work) visa expires, you generally cannot switch to a tourist visa while still in Thailand. Typically, you would need to leave the country, as extensions or changes to a different visa are not permitted within Thailand. However, there might be temporary extensions available due to Covid-19 measures, but applying for a tourist visa inside Thailand is not allowed.

You cannot get a tourist visa inside of Thailand. Normally when a Non-B is done, your only option is to leave Thailand as you are not eligible for any other extensions.

Currently you MAY be able to apply for a Covid extension if it's before May 24th. But there's no guarantee that they will give you the 60 day extension, and may just give you a 7 days "get out of Thailand" stamp.

hello there.

What is the current business regarding the Covid extension? Why do you mention that you *may* be able to apply for it?

because they are at the discretion of the immigration officer. Some ask to see a flight out of Thailand to issue. Some offices have stopped issueing them at all.

I see. Thank you for the information.

I guess that explains why I'm not seeing any recent success stories with Covid extensions.
