TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses whether it is possible to send money to a Thai bank account using Wise and have it labeled as an international transfer, which is often necessary for fulfilling visa requirements. Several users confirm that Wise provides options during the transfer process to indicate that the funds are for long-term stay in Thailand, which can help achieve the necessary documentation for immigration purposes. However, there are mixed experiences, particularly with different banks' handling of the transactions and the terminology used in bank statements.
Normaly yes but yesterday and 1 day before yesterday, it did not show 'international transfer' on my bangkok bank account. I am sure I selected 'funds for long stay in Thailand'. There was such a problem before.
when i send money from australia to thailand with wise , it always comes up on my bangkok bank statement as international, just done $10k aus and that is what it said !been doing it for years , so your chat GPT AI is a liar !
I opened an account with SCB last week and transferred my 800k into my account via wise. wise use Kasikorn bank as an intermediary bank so my transfer was not recorded as a FET with SCB. My Wise receipt shows the trail from Wise, Kasikorn and the SCB.
Richard Morcombe there is definitely a drop down on wise its the last box when transferring it asks if you want it to show as an international transfer.
It asks specifically if your transfer needs to be shown as international. Obviously select yes, and you should get the following day at 2pm, or the Monday if done over the weekend
Just a quick one, I've noticed on my monthly Bangkok bank statement that it says DEP TRF FR E-CH it used to say international funds transfer and yes I choose for retirement in Thailand on wise what is going on I've tried different options on menu drop down but still comes up the same
Ken Hutchinson Especially ChatGPT... when are people going to be fully educated to the fact that ChatGPT is a good servant (aka tool) to perform certain functions, but is a bad master to things of significance in your life?
Well you find in Thailand there are two realities The official reality and the reality reality. last year there were a number of changes in the banking system and all banks were to become unable to easily report international transfers. Swift transfer from the United States was offered as the only option for transferring funds and having them accepted and properly noted in the bank accounts. The first thing I noticed with moving from wise to moving to Swift, was a tripling of fees by Swift for the same amount of money sent through wise. an additional problem was adding a layer of documentation did not make my process of renewing my one year non-o visa any easier. despite and postings to the opposite I continue to do my transfers with wise through Bangkok Bank and find Bangkok Bank does a paperwork exactly the way immigration wants to see it. for me this is a win-win until the rules getting forced and wise can no longer transfer directly to my Bangkok bank account.
There are options in Wise which you select. For reason for transfer select "Funds for long term stay in Thailand" and select yes for "Will you require proof of Foreign Exchange Transaction"
The only reason you need the funds to show as international is if you are using the monthly income method. Wise can't guarantee that each transfer will be coded correctly, but there are ways around it using the paper trail.
Wannikea Wanblee wrong not the only reason 🤨…sending money by wise and tagging it for long term visa also helps for buying a condo since money must be proven coming from outside Thailand. Bank statement will show international transaction
