How can a webshop owner in Thailand successfully apply for the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) while producing jewelry?

Hi! I’m a Europe-based webshop owner who produces jewelry in Thailand and sells mainly to European customers. I’d like to connect with other e-commerce business owners—doesn’t have to be jewelry—who are applying for the DTV. I’d love to hear if anyone running an online store has successfully applied.

Thanks so much in advance!😊

p.s. I've been in Thailand for two years on an education visa, and I’m currently on a tourist visa

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Europe-based webshop owner producing jewelry in Thailand seeks advice on applying for the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) while selling primarily to European customers. Concerns arise about the legality of producing within Thailand for international clients under DTV regulations, suggesting that engagement with Thai clients may complicate the application. The owner is considering alternative options, including the possibility of a work permit and is looking for advice on trustworthy agents or lawyers to assist in the process.

Thanks so much for the advice! I understand about the DTV limits and keeping things focused outside Thailand. I’ll avoid mentioning production here, and I’m also considering the work permit option, though it seems more complicated—but maybe it’s not! If anyone has advice or knows a trustworthy agent or lawyer, I’d love to hear it.

Anonieme deelnemer Good point but the factory ships my production order to my home country and from there B2B and B2C orders are shipped by a third party.

Anonieme deelnemer You say you want to avoid mentioning production in Thailand, which would be illegal with DTV, but even when you avoid mentioning production, what about shipping? That will also be considered as working in Thailand.

Anonymous participant The Representative Office route will be more expensive and more complex that the DTV.

Anonymous participant if you work inside Thailand go with a Non-B visa and work permit. The DTV will do nothing to regularise your situation and you will continue to work illegally in Thailand with the risks that entails

This could be a no go? It seems a grey area at best. Especially if you are based within Thailand to check things like production quality and manage anything.

Also begs the question, if you’re producing here in Thailand, why not just legitimise the whole operation and get your work permit etc

I think a representative office woukd be enough

Your website may qualify you for a DTV but the jewellery production inside Thailand may disqualify you.

The producing jewellery in Thailand bit could be problematic. You are not supposed to be dealing with Thai clients or customers on the DTV. Might be best not to put any focus on that during any application

I think they should be ok if he helps exports of Thailand

The DTV specifically excludes working in Thailand with Thai customers and with Thai companies. Please show me where it says they are OK if you are exporting from Thailand? As I said I would not mention it and have his overseas legal entity deal with the Thai legal entity. In his application, he does not have to state where the supplier is located. EDIT: It also looks obvious the business has been run from Thailand while on Tourist and ED visas - even more reason not to mention suppliers.

ok then you seem to know more than me and to have done your diligence

I just think it is best not to complicate things. It is not needed for the application. They are not looking at the supply source but like to see evidence of your sales etc.
