One user mentions successfully obtaining a license with a Tourist Visa, indicating the likelihood of achieving a 5-year license under similar conditions. Another user notes a past case of someone achieving a 5-year license with a DTV in Chiang Mai and emphasizes that outcomes can vary based on the Department of Land Transport (DLT) office.

It is a while ago now but I am sure someone got a 5 year on DTV up in Chiang Mai. You know the next sentence - it is going to depend on the DLT Office :-)

I got my license holding a Tourist Visa. So I am pretty sure you can get 5 year license when holding DTV.

You will not get a 5 year renewal on a Tourist Visa or Visa Exempt - only another 2 year.
