Has anyone by chance tried to renew their 5 yr driving licence yet with the dtv?

Went to dlt yesterday and they said can only renew for a 2 yr licence because only have 6 month stamp in the passport, even though the visa is valid for 5 year!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses challenges faced when renewing a 5-year driving license with a DTV (Tourist Visa). The author reports being told they could only receive a 2-year license due to having a 6-month stamp in their passport, despite holding a 5-year visa. Commenters share mixed experiences, noting that some have successfully obtained a 5-year renewal at different Land Transport Offices, while others emphasize that the DTV is generally considered a tourist visa, which may not qualify for longer licenses. It is suggested that a non-immigrant visa is typically required for a 5-year driving license.

I don't know why they would want to see your visa, passport data page yes. Been a few years since I've renewed, so can't say I'm in the loop currently in that regard.

Your visa is good for 6 months at a time and considered a tourist visa class

You need a non O visa for the 5 year driving license. Details are on the DLT website.

DTV is basically a tourist visa so I don't think that allows for a 5 year licence. Some DLT offices won't even give you a 2 year licence unless your on a non-immigrant visa

I think it depends which Land Transport Office you go to. I saw a post where a DTV holder was told 2 years only at one office but got the 5 years elsewhere

If I remember correctly the post was in this area. One office said only 2 years but another gave 5 years. I am sure the post was very recent. Have a search.
