Can I reassign my 500K THB now that my Thai visa is approved, or do I need to keep it in my account until I arrive?

Hi everyone! Approved within 48 hours in Manilla πŸ˜πŸ™Œ I plan to stay here for a while to escape the burning season in Chiang Mai, because it's pretty terrible at the moment.

My question is, can I reassign the 500K THB now that I have the approval e-mail from the visa office? Or do I need to keep it in my personal account and have it in there when I land in Chiang Mai? Do they ever ask at the border, or am I all clear now? Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user received their visa approval for Thailand and wishes to know if they can reassign the required 500K THB now or if they need to keep it in their account upon arrival in Chiang Mai. Comments indicate that the funds do not need to stay in the account unless applying for an in-country extension. It's suggested to print out the visa approval email to show upon arrival, and it’s noted that funds can be touched if not applying for an extension.

If you need to touch that money, you likely don’t have enough

You certainly can touch it. I wouldn't keep that much money in a savings account.

Genetally i keep just enough for 1-2 months and the rest making more returns/gains. Emergencies, that is what a credit card and insurance is for.

Anonieme deelnemer 479 That much money??? Are we talking about 500k THB?

A credit card for emergencies? When your creditcard limit is high enough you would not mention 500k THB much money.

But success with your strategy of having all your money at risk, especially during times like this.

Thank You for your helpful report πŸ‘

Congratulations πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.

That's what you should do... print it out.

You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.

Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.

There is no obligation to keep the funds in the account unless you plan to apply for an in country extension. I suggest you print your visa and show when you arrive, and don't forget your DTAC

do you need to apply for an extension? I thought within 5 years you can extend the visa every 180 days, same like the extension when coming without any visa (talking or workcation)

Most reports say an in country extension is either refused or more complicated than the original application so most people leave and come back

You do not have to apply for an extension at an immigration office. You leave and when you re-enter get a fresh 6mth stamp.
