Im a U.S. Citizen ..... I've owned a Dtv visa for 6 months. My passport got damaged on the way out of Thailand and I was told by Thai immigration that I cannot return until i replace it. The US embassy by law has to keep your damaged Passport. I got an emergency passport in 3 days in the country I visited and when I returned back to Thailand I flew to Don muaeng Airport. They looked at my passport scanned my finger print and facial recognition with no questions asked and stamped me in for 180 days in less then 5 minutes.
YOU DO NOT have to apply for a new DTV if you have a new passport. The DTV is connected to your finger print and facial recognition digitally in their system. So I just wanted to share my experience to help someone who might be worried.
Don mueang airport immigration were a lot nicer than Suvarnbhumi.
