“I buy cars in the USA and sell them online to customers in Latin America through my website. I started this business in 2016 and have been working online since then.
I reinvest my profits back into buying more vehicles and growing the business. I currently have around 500,000 THB available for investment.
Before COVID, I regularly did border runs in Thailand to stay legally.
I would like to know if this type of online business can qualify for a digital nomad visa. I am looking for guidance and help.
Thank you very much, and I apologize for any inconvenience”

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster (OP) operates an online car sales business focused on customers in Latin America and is exploring the potential for a digital nomad visa in Thailand. They mention reinvesting profits for growth and have approximately 500,000 THB for investment. Several comments address the legality of previous border runs, taxation implications for staying over 180 days, and the need for an income to be legally recognized. Some suggest consulting legal experts for accurate guidance.
Nimetön osallistuja you need to have physical money to show in bank, thats matter. Otherwise you still need income from your company or company who you work for. And all the necessary documents, you'll be fine if everything is in order.
Nimetön osallistuja more safe if you just go holiday for couple of days example Vietnam, Laos and come back, you still can do online while out of Thailand. If you don't want to go out every 179 days just pay 1900 for extension and prepare all your documents and newest bank statement you still have the 500k, they might ask it. And then you might be taxed onwards from your income, and don't mess that up, you probably need then a accountant to calculate your taxes and those you have to pay once in a years in specific month.
You will have to meet the financial requirements no matter what. That’s means you will have to show proof you can support yourself in Thailand. Car titles won’t count, only cash in the bank, a pension, a retirement account, or showing regular income from a reliable source. $1000 a month doesn’t meet the standard. Also, the money received would be taxed prior to you reinvesting the funds so you’ll not be able skirt the tax system.
On the other hand; as it's written you don't any personal income from the business. The money needs to be taken out as salary and put in your name in a bank. Taxation in the US.
i do 1000 usd salary and i reinvest the profits. But i just transfer the money to my friend in Thailand to pay rent and food, for example. Thanks for you comment and opinion 🙏✌️🫶🏿
Anonymous participant OK. 500kbaht needs to be in your bank in your name, typically 3 months before applying. Not sure about this part, but: the friend in Thailand could possibly face taxation if it looks like your company sends money from the US
Anonymous participant "Revenue Department Begins Taxing Foreign-Sourced Income
Sources of income earned outside of Thailand are also taxable by the Revenue Department, but only if that income is brought into the country. Income earned before 2024 is exempt from taxation and can be brought into Thailand freely."
Many of "this lot on FB" got their DTVs themselves and knew how the process works. Applicants have failed to get DTVs with Siam legal, so they are not a guarantee of success.
For anyone scratching their head after reading OP’s post:

Anonymous participant 501 You have an online business with non Thai customers so you qualify. You need to show how you operate your business online, company registration info, income info etc. A lot of tips in the threads to help you apply. The 500k needs to be in a personal savings account not a business account.
