Can I organize a work permit in Thailand without changing my Non-F visa to a B visa?

I am here on a non-immigrant F-visa and have a potential employer wanting to change it to a B-visa to get a work permit (and would have to leave the country which is tricky at the moment). Has anyone been in a similar situation and succeeded in organizing a WP without changing the visa type?

Look in your passport. Are you currently ON a Non-F visa, OR did you get an extension of stay (and if so, an extension of stay based on what reason)?

OK. Thank you. Very much appreciated.

hmm... not sure. I came in with a non-F visa in January. After quarantine, I got a "permission to stay until 2022"...

If you're still on the original Non-F sticker (I believe they are valid for 90 days), then I'm almost certain the answer is no, you can not get an extension of stay based on doing business inside Thailand from the Non-F sticker.

The Non-F visa is used to perform official government duties. A Non-B is used for employment.

I suggest asking your immigration office if it's possible.
