Hi guys, thanks for accepting me.

Unfortunately Thai Visas and related issues can become a complex issue.

I just read a question regarding agent who should support application for a non-O retirement visa in Thailand.

It‘s said that the Bank Account is funded already and I wonder how one can get a bank account in TH without a longstay visa, thoughtvit doesn’t work with tourist visa..

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the challenges of opening a bank account in Thailand without a long-stay visa, particularly the Non-O retirement visa. Many participants share their experiences, indicating that while it is possible, it often requires persistence and may involve purchasing insurance or having local support. Some banks may have varying policies, and patience is essential as regulations can differ by branch. Additional tips include ensuring you have documentation like a residency certificate or rental contract to improve chances of account approval.

It definitely seems to be getting more difficult than it was when I arrived less than 2 years ago, but back then, with a bit of persistence and travelling around banks/branches, I managed to open an account with a tourist visa.

If you try and cannot the going rate for an agent for this task seems to be 4-5,000 and might be worth doing. The rest of the visa process is easy, so agent not required (I think you know this already).

Good luck.

Keep trying. I went to the same branch of Bangkok Bank 4 times before getting an account.

Getting harder these days. Your chances increase if you actually have a bill that you pay monthly (like cell phone, etc), or if you are renting a condo for a few months.

This thread occurs over and over on the Internet, including the banks, telling you that this year, there are increased security regulations that prohibit opening bank accounts on tourist visas. There’s no such law. It seems that Thai banks are franchises like McDonald’s. Each branch is individually owned, with its own policies, Which may vary according to which teller or Manager you talk to. They want to sell the insurance because they get a commission, and there are agents that help you open accounts, apparently by sharing their fee with banking staff. They also like to have a residency certificate, which you can’t get in Bangkok on a tourist Visa or Visa free entry, but you can in some other provinces.research this and keep trying.

well it‘s Thailand. Lived there from 2006-mid 2020, made the mistake to leave and now miss the country despite all kind of „tricks/scams“. Still more enjoyable than the current situation in all European countries

in pattaya about 3 years ago but my friend opened an account last year the branch you need to visit is just by walking street they will tell you that you need insurance this is a scam tell them you don't need the insurance

It is possible but it takes patience, try every Bank and every branch. Getting the bank account is probably the most difficult part of the process.
