If you meet all the requirements and pass the evaluation criteria, . Pls Dm.
Maybe, but it is incredibly tough right now. Because banks legally classify the DTV as a tourist-class visa, most standard branches will reject you by default due to strict anti-scam rules.
However, you can get approved if you treat it like a compliance screening. Here is the exact process:
Get the Right Residence Paperwork: You absolutely need an official Certificate of Residence from Thai Immigration OR a verified residency affidavit from your home embassy. Bring a long-term lease and your landlord's TM30 to secure this.
Use the "Secret Weapon" (Reference Letter): If you know an existing, high-value Thai customer or a long-stay expat with a flawless record at a specific branch, have them write a Letter of Reference vouching for you. Even better, have them walk into the branch to introduce you to the manager. Their reputation overrides a lot of corporate red tape.
Bring Your DTV Backups: Show 6 months of foreign bank statements and your remote work contract or business registration (the same paperwork used to get the visa) to clear anti-money laundering checks.
Go to Main Branches Only: Avoid small shopping mall branches. Go to main provincial head branches or expat-heavy main offices where managers have higher signing authority. Be prepared to try a few different locations.
Be Ready for the "Insurance Bundle": If a branch is on the fence, they will often approve you on the spot if you agree to buy their basic local accident insurance package (usually 2,000–6,000 THB). It hits their sales goals and gets your foot in the door.
Bottom line: It comes down to branch manager discretion. Show up with that embassy/immigration residence paper, a trusted reference, a mountain of proof, and don't give up if the first branch says no.
⚠️ We act solely as an agency that assists with account opening coordination. Policies regarding account maintenance are determined by each bank or by the Bank of Thailand. Kindly take this into consideration.
⚠️ For accounts opened under DTV visa, the mobile banking application has a daily transfer limit of 50,000 THB, and each transfer made through the mobile banking app is limited to 1,000 THB per transaction.
There is no fixed exact law that prevents it, some banks tolerate it for some customers, especially high net worth, or long term resident with experience in Thai language and values.
The chances of a fresh off the plane green new arrival getting one from a simple walk in are nearly none.
I use TrueMoney wallet myself. It works for most things, except deposits can only be made with cash or through a Thai bank account or a Thai credit card. It does not accept foreign cards. But many people use Wise for bigger transfers. And apparently they have QR payments coming now as well to Thailand.
It really depends on the bank and even the branch. Some DTV holders have been able to open accounts, while others have been refused. There's no consistent nationwide policy, so if you need one, it's worth trying a few different branches.
Extremely unlikely you’ll be allowed to open an account on a DTV as most banks want to see a proper Non-Immigrant visa.
You can get a Thai driver’s license without a visa as well. You will need to get a certificate of residence from either immigration or your Embassy/Consulate. Keep in mind that if you want both a motorcycle and a car driver’s license you will need 2 certificates of residency.
