Hello everyone!

I am British but a resident of Greece for 9 years.

63 now and looking at moving to Thailand, Hua Hin to be specific.

I will be selling up here and have a balance of around 140.000 euro but pension is not payable until 2030.

Is it possible to get on a plane with my 2kg dog and start the whole visa 0/non (l think) from scratch when l arrive?

I do not want to start anything in Greece as notoriously difficult to do anything with paperwork here.

Was thinking that l could get an agent to help me once l am there?

Apply for an METV online before you come. Gives you 9 months in Thailand. Have to exit and re enter every 90 days.

Hi,you can look on the website boi.go.th which handles immigration, etc for Thailand. It shows the requirements for all of the various Visa types that are available for being in Thailand. They may even have information about bringing pets in.

There are eight approved agencies which you can contact before you go as I am currently doing.

Oh...lm so blonde and absolutely hopeless at this. I see now 8,000 is a very small amount converted to euro is a very small amount. So that l could find to start the visa process before I leave 🤣

Puts me back in the same position. I won't have 24,000 euro until the house sells and then it's too late to start the process...gotta be a way round this!

If you don't already have a Thai bank account you will find it impossible to open one on a tourist entry, although you could travel to a nearby country and apply there but the dog might be an issue though. You need to jump through some hoops for the dog so the whole thing will be much easier if you get the Non-O visa in Greece

l get that John and that is a big problem for me as l won't have the funds until the house sale is paid into my account and then l will need to travel.

The dog lm happy to get the paperwork done but was hoping l could get an agent to open the bank account for me with a tenancy agreement once there and of course, then having the funds.

you could try speaking to the owner of this group and see what they say but I kind saw the problem being getting the dog paperwork being an issue if you don't have a visa, I of course could be wrong as I've no direct experience.
