Can I get more than one 60-day extension on my visa in Thailand?

Is there any precedent for getting more than one 60 day extension? I have never been on amnesty, my volunteer visa extensions ran out on Nov 1st, so I'm on the 60 day Covid extension for the first time. Wondering if it is completely unrealistic to expect I could get another one.

(For context: I am a full-time volunteer with a Thai foundation, here since before Covid. Normally I could just leave at the end of a year and reapply for a Non O Volunteer visa, but as it is, those visas are not on the list of reasons to apply for the certificate to come back. I rent a house, own a car, have little kids, and a valid work permit, etc.)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question revolves around the possibility of obtaining multiple 60-day extensions of a visa in Thailand, specifically during the COVID-19 period. The user, who is a full-time volunteer and has been in Thailand since before the pandemic, is currently utilizing a 60-day extension due to COVID-19 and is inquiring about the potential for obtaining another extension. Comments suggest that typically only one 60-day extension is available, although extensions may be possible based on unique circumstances, such as having foreign children or other special situations.

has her work cut out for her. It appears that a 60 day extension is about all you can ask for..

Good luck with it.

If you have foreign children, you could get an extension based on raising children here (if they are on ED visas and here legally) but it would take 500K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 30 days before you applied for it. The seasoning requirements for raising foreign children here are 30 days for the first yearly extension and 3 months for every yearly extension after that

That'd be about it other than the 60 day extension.

they are homeschooled. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ We're definitely caught between a rock and a hard place, but I know we're not alone. Covid is affecting so many who consider Thailand home, even though the government will always consider us outsiders. I've found some can be very reasonable and empathetic if you approach them right, so still holding out hope...

no, I gave birth in the States. Education visa isn't an option either because i already know the language, and don't have the schedule to go to University (again). I just got my work permit re-upped for another year, though, so hopefully we will have better luck pleading our case next time. ๐Ÿ˜•

Let's ask the question from a different view.

Is your husband Thai?

no, he is American. Sorry it's not clear, I'm the one who grew up here, but my Dad is American (mom Filipino) and I've always held American citizenship. I left to go to college, got married to an American, had kids and moved back to work for a foundation helping Thai children.

To make sure we understand, are you referring to the 60 day extensions for COVID-19 reasons?

you said you hold a valid work permit, this makes you - in case you have to leave Thailand - elegible for an application to a COE at the Thai Embassy of your home country. (However with all the financial burdens & hoops included - ASQ quarantine/ flights etc)

Volunteer visa holders are not eligible to apply for entry.

I wish that were the case, but at least in the States, they explicitly say only Non B work visas, no Non O Volunteer visas, even with work permit.

yes, I grew up in Thailand with American citizenship, married to an American and moved back, so no extension based on marriage or retirement for me.

This is the first time the Thai government is issuing those 60 days COVID-19 extensions. The only thing you can do is just ask.
