Hi, I want to apply for the one year extension on my 90 day non O visa, my visa expires before my funds have had two months in Thai bank. Can I get a 30 day extension on a non O visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster inquired about obtaining a 30-day extension on their 90-day Non-O visa, which is not possible. Comments clarify that the only available extension is a 12-month one based on retirement or family connections. If the funds have not been in a Thai bank for two months, the individual will need to exit Thailand and either apply for a new 90-day Non-O visa or enter visa-exempt and apply for the desired extension afterwards. The discussion also touches on various requirements and recommendations concerning visa types and extensions.

Ask in Imigration if you apply for extension based on thai child do not need money to stay for two mounts. For retirement and thai wife need 2 mounts. First speak with them. Can ask also same agent can help you.

I would ask your immigration office first maybe they are fine with the time . Especially if you have paying more into the account as well

All great feedback! I had to do an extension for the exact same reason. I was able to get a 60 extension because my wife is a Thai citizen…. Otherwise you will need to exit and wait till your funds mature!

Penny Nave If the OP has the funds already banked then they do not need to be seasoned for the in country Non-O application (except in Jomtien) so can proceed at any time (but probably a good idea to use most of the 60 day entry stamp first)

There is no 30 day extension available on that visa. If you have immediate Thai family you can get a 60 day "visit Thai family extension but other than that it's only a 12 month extension. Sounds like you will have to exit Thailand and either apply for another 90 day Non-O visa at a nearby consulate or come back in visa exempt and apply for it at your local immigration office if they issue them (most do but not all)

Michael Surber he probably wasn't able to get the bank account opened and the funds transferred within the first 30 days of his 90-days stay permit. The funds must be seasoned for 2 months in order to be able to apply for the 1-year extension. He now needs a few extra days and he has received a few very detailled replies on what to do next

for the "change of visa type", you need a proof that the funds came from abroad. You need a rental contract, and you need a minimum of 15 workdays left on your entry stamp, in order to be able to apply. Your case is number 9 on this .pdf list of requirements to the "change of visa type" on the website of Thai Immigration, however I would visit "your" Immigration and ask them for THEIR list, as it could differ a little bit from the official one . . .open this link, change the language to English and dowload number 9

Andreas Mueller What’s to say they don’t have a conventional view of marriage and maybe he’s fathered an acknowledged child by a Thai lady?

no, you cannot get a 30-days extension on top of the 90-days stay permit you received when you entered on a Non-Imm-O visa. Unfortunately, you will have to exit Thailand before the 90 days are up. You have the option of remaining in a neighbour country until your funds have seasoned for the required 2 months, then re-enter visa-exempt, get stamped in for 60 days, visit Immigration and apply for the "change of visa type" from the exempt-entry to an initial 90-days Non-Imm-O Retirement Visa. It will count from the day you apply. And as soon as 30 days left on these 90 days, you can apply for the 1-year Extension of the Stay Permit Based on Retirement with the funds in the bank, and the bank letter confirming the seasoning

Andreas Mueller Thank you for the detailed replies. I think we’ll go the Visa on entry and TM87, that way we won’t have to leave the country for more than a few days. If we leave the country and apply for another non o it could take weeks!

The only extension is the 12 month extension of stay, so unless anyone can think of a better way you will have to get another non-O.
