Hey, I have a peruvian passport and, so I get an exemption visa for 90 days. I've thought I was able to get an extension for another 90 days or at least 30 days more, but today I went to the immigration office and they told me they could only give me another 7 days. I'm not even sure, because the officer didn't speak english very well. Does any of you have been on a similar situation?

I've also thought of going to Cambodia for one week and come back, do you guys think that might be risky? I don't want to go there with a big suitcase, but I'm not sure if they will let me come back to Thailand with no problem 🤔

Just to mention is my first time in Thailand, and my passport has many stamps from other countries within the last year.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A traveler with a Peruvian passport is seeking clarification on the extension of a 90-day visa exemption in Thailand. They were informed at the immigration office that they could only receive a 7-day extension, which contradicts their expectation of being able to extend by 30 or 90 days. They are considering a trip to Cambodia to reset their visa status but are unsure of the risks involved. Community members clarify that Peruvians do not receive a typical visa exemption and cannot extend their stay beyond a short additional period. They suggest that the traveler should exit Thailand and re-enter, ideally using a reputable service for the border run to avoid complications.

Almadema Lucich what was the reason for giving you only a 7-day extension?

Peruvian passport holders do not have the option to make 30 day extensions.

My guess is that the OP had her request denied, and got 7 days to leave the country.

Hola. Si, tienes que salir no te queda opción.

Si es tu primera estampa en Tailandia, y vas a Cambodia de visita, no deberías tener problema con la vuelta.

Peruvians do not get visa exempt. They enter on bilateral agreement which cannot be extended.

Your only option is to leave and re-enter, but Cambodia is not a good option unless you use a border run company to take care of the details for you.

Peruvians (as well as Koreans and Brazillians) currently can get Visa Exempt (45d) or Bilateral Agreement (90d) entries (see first Remark * below). What is the difference between Passport Holders and Ordinary Passports?

Cambodia land or air is just fine. It all depends how many stamps you have in your passport. If it will be your first or second border bounce you will not have a problem with either.

However DO NOT GO to the Poipet Border.

The other 2 good land borders are in a remote area and I would recomend you get a visa run service to make things easier. If you are new here it will be harder to find a minivan that goes there.

I would not fly to Cambodia (Phnom Penn). The city sucks.

If you want to do a border run by air I would fly to Da Nang (Vietnam) and go visit Hoi An.

If you are looking just to spend the least money as possible I would pick the land border with an agent. Go and come same day.

I also have the 90-day bilateral agreement and extension in Thailand is only 7 days.

Better to exit and come back so you get anoher 90 days

they don't like people leaving and returning to Thailand at that border. They might ask for extra money or deny entry.

even if I go with a flight?

that's different. When you said Cambodia I assumed you meant the land border. Flying will probably be okay but you might be questioned by immigration about why you're returning so soon.
