Is it still the case that if I enter on a 30 day "Permission to Enter"...then get a 30 day extension locally (Ko Phangan Immigration)...will I be able to exit Thailand to a neighboring country such as Malaysia...and get another 30 day Permission to Enter.
I have done this once before...but pre-Covid.
I don't know if any of these are considered "Visas".
I will be arriving next week and just considering options.
Yes I know I could have applied for a 60 day Visa here in USA and probably extended that for 30 days.
Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires whether they can exit Thailand to Malaysia after entering on a 30-day "Permission to Enter," followed by a local extension, to obtain another 30-day entry. Comments indicate that while it was previously possible, current pandemic-related restrictions may complicate this process, with recommendations to secure a proper visa instead of relying on border hopping.

IF the borders are open, yes. A person can get "unlimited" 30 day visa exempts, until the immigration officer on duty says "no" and sends you back.
However..

The only border that's currently open, in theory, is Cambodia AND ONLY BY AIR. Entering Cambodia by air is outside the scope of this group.
