Passport Cover's writing erased.

Here's my issue, my passport has it's cover golden writings pretty much erased due to the fact that it's quit old now around 6 years.

Other than that it's intact, I would like to know has anyone been denied of entry experienced troubles getting in thailand with a worn passport ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Many travelers have confirmed that a worn-out passport cover does not generally lead to entry issues in Thailand, as long as the information page and interior pages are intact and undamaged. There may be extra scrutiny at immigration checkpoints, but most experiences shared by users indicate they faced no problems despite having faded passport covers.

No worries, as long as it's just the outside.

But, to enhance the presentation and clear your conscious at the same time , just buy yourself a nice suitable passport cover. (you can easily find that online, Lazada or what). It's a perfectly sized and ready to use (decorated or not) cover, you put your passport in just like a dress.

It will dress your passport and also protect it from any additional damages.

I have never been stopped entry but twice had them tell me to change passports not only in Thailand several different countries immigration staff told me this

Yes. I have but for different reasons My problems were with the identity check you have to endure at the border you have to endure when you are entering one of the countries close to Thailand You are obliged to leave Thailand every quarter as a condition. of some Thai visas

I rocked up with my five year old passport and they wanted to check my photo. against the reality of my face and to do a finger print check As it happens I have taken up exercise seriously and lost a lot of fat from around my chin my fingerprint swirls have disappeared as well

Consequently I spent about an hour long the in the baking sun on The Thai Laos border until my wife intervened and explained that the reasons my photos didn't provide an accurate likeness was that I was exercising to get a '"six pack " stomach like them, Flattery works every time

Yes, I was warned at an immigration post because some of the stitches were showing. Best to keep it in perfect condition if you can 👍🏻.

as long as every single page is still inside it and they are undamaged, you shouldn't have a problem.

there shouldn't be an issue as long as the cover is still in one piece. An invalidated passport can have the corners clipped off it as a clear and visual marker to show it isn't, but the print in the cover isn't really of any importance.

So long as your information page is good, and interior pages are normal, you'll be fine.

No issue whatsoever. My gold ink is usually gone after about 4 years as well.

Nope and almost all worn off.

Must get myself an EU plastic cover! (even though I’m no longer).

Mine’s almost gone too and I have not had any issues. I travel extensively as part of my job so it would have been picked up quickly if it was an issue.
Michael ********

Providing it’s a machine readable passport I don’t understand how wear and tear on the cover could cause any problem?

I don’t know it’s just that at the embassy an agent told me oh we made you the tourist visa but you might get denied because the writings on your passport cover are almost fully erased
Christopher ***********
@Miguel ******
Possibly the agent was only trying to be helpful in anticipating that an immigration officer could see an opportunity to ask for a tip/bribe? Alternatively, the agent could be touting for business if obtaining replacement/renewed passports are part of their service?
Russell *******
The outside pages will not be an issue

The code at the bottom of first page is important

When they swipe the passport through the reader.

I doubt they will even look at the cover
