If I fly into Phuket for the sandbox on a 30 day visa exempt from the US, can I change it in Bangkok when I figure out a longer term visa? Thanks πŸ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can change your visa type in Bangkok after entering Thailand through the Phuket Sandbox on a 30-day visa exemption from the US. You initially receive a 45-day visa exempt entry, which can be extended by an additional 30 days at immigration for a fee. After that, you can explore other visa options at a local immigration office.

You will get 45 days with the visa exempt entry into Thailand plus one added 30 day extension available at Thai immigration for 1900 Thai baht = 75 days.

After that you can explore what other options that may be available to you.

rephrasing my question another way β€” can I extend at Bangkok immigration even though I flew into Phuket? Just want to make sure I won’t have to go back to Phuket if I plan on going to Bangkok after the sandbox.

If you live in Bangkok, you can extend your 45 day extension of stay based on tourism at Muang Thong Thani immigration center in Bangkok.

The sandbox is visa agnostic. There is *NO* special "Sandbox visa".

If you enter Thailand on a 45 day visa exempt (was 30 days before), you can be able to convert it to another visa or another extension of stay at your local immigration office, based on whatever reason you're staying here.
